Past Master - University Lodge 482 - 1950

This is a Past Master Jewel presented to Percy H. Williams by University Lodge No. 482 on December 15th, 1950.

(that's my birthday, but I wouldn't be born for 20 years.)

Grand Master Percy H. Williams,
from the Michigan Masonic Museum & Library collection

He served the Grand Lodge of Michigan as Grand Master in 1965.  This means that he was the elected leader of all of the masons in Michigan that year.

He probably had this jewel in his possession then, but I haven't found a picture of him wearing it.

It is adorned with a white stone, very well set.  I don't think this is a diamond, but it is a natural stone.  Maybe a spinel or a sapphire.

It is expertly engraved and dated, but the metal is so shiny that it is hard to get a good picture.  It was crafted by a jeweler outfit named 'BERKEY"

This jewel is 2.6" by 1" and weighs 8 grams.  It is 14k White Gold.
relative amount I paid for this - Medium
As of 2/9/14 the scrap value works out to about $197.
However, none of these are for sale.
