JR OUAM Jewel - Sterling - 1930s?

Junior Order of United American Mechanics Jewel, likely from the 1930s.  This group has a fairly interesting history and evolution.  This order began as a youth auxiliary of the United American Mechanics.  The UAM were a nativist movement, which is an apologic way of saying that they were against foreigners and specifically Catholics.  The old "they're taking our jobs" sort of uniformed and myopic economic thinking that surfaces from time to hard time.  Well, I have a degree in economics, so that is what I think.

Anyway, the Jr. order eventually abandoned this thinking, became open to people of all races and creeds, and became a very large fraternal benefit society.  It eventually absorbed the parent organization.  They claimed 200,000 members in the 1930s.

This part of the insignia is very familiar.  But that is not a "G" in the square and compasses....
There are a lot of these jewels out there, but most had ribbon flags, and few were solid sterling.

It is a complicated construction, four parts hinged, and all marked sterling.  The flag is enameled (cloisonne).

I have not been able to figure out where Justice Council 28 was.....yet.

This jewel is 5.4" by 2.25" and weighs 45 grams.  It is sterling.
relative amount I paid for this - low
As of 3/3/14 the silver scrap value works out to about $30
However, none of these are for sale.
