This is a Past Worthy Patron jewel from Stewart Chapter OES in New Jersey.
The elected leader of a Chapter is the Worthy Matron. There is also a master mason present at all meetings and he is the Worthy Patron. The Order of the Eastern Star is sometimes thought of as the ladies' auxiliary, but it is open to men for membership.
It is beautifully engraved, the name and number of the chapter that is. I believe the outside florals are cast, as this seems to be a production piece.
This was given to F.H.C. Rowland
of Pittstown New Jersey in 1928.
Riveted construction, but not really the most attentive work... still very nice.
This jewel is 2.25" by 1.25" and weighs 7 grams. It is 10k gold.
relative amount I paid for this - low
As of 3/3/14 the gold scrap value works out to about $126
However, none of these are for sale.
